Where God is Exalted
And Believers Encouraged
CHURCH
We are not a social club, though we do enjoy getting together to fellowship (many times around good home cooking). Nor are we an entertainment facility. We are a local body of believers gathered together in the place of worship that the Lord has blessed us with. It is a place for spiritual birth, growth and healing as the Lord directs.
REAL
By Real, we mean transparent. The reality is that none of us are perfect. Why should people come to church just to put on a mask. Our desire at WVBC is to have an atmosphere where all can feel welcomed regardless of background. Sin is still sin, but no one is beyond God's forgiveness and we all fall short in one way or another.
SIMPLE
Think as having a simple focus. Our goal is to live and do those things in ministry that are pleasing to God. We believe that God has provided us everything needed within His Word, so it is our focus for every area of ministry. It's not about the programs, but simply what does the Bible say.
Who We Are
What To Expect
If we would have the privilege of your presence in one of our services, what would you encounter?

We would be considered a country style church with the services following some aspects of the traditional worship style: singing typically of hymns, offering , and preaching/teaching from the Word of God. Intermingled within these services you will also find the occasional special music, a time of greeting one another, and a children's time during the A.M. service. Every message given during the service is centered on the Word of God, sometimes in the form of preaching and others in a more interactive teaching environment. As a church, we use the King James version to aid in continuity of the service and teaching times.

Since we are a country church, dress will vary. We believe that we should give our best to God when we come to worship Him, and for each person, that may be a little different. Some folks may have a suit and tie or a Sunday dress to wear, while others have a nice pair of jeans and shirt. Either way, all are welcome.

We also have accommodations for children in the ministry. Wednesday and Sunday evening there are programs for the kids downstairs, as well as Sunday School. There is also a nursery available for mothers of young ones. Some parents prefer to have their children remain in the services with them, and that is perfectly acceptable as well. Our desire is to minister to people's needs, whatever that may be.

From The Pastor's Desk
My name is Barry Yingling and it is a privilege to introduce myself to you as the Pastor of the Woodcock Valley Bible Church. God called me to the ministry here in February 2016, along with my wife, Janell, and two daughters, Mia and Anna.
My spiritual life began in May of 1998 when I placed my faith alone in Christ for my salvation. Three months prior, I met Janell and began to attend her church, The Faith Baptist Church of Altoona, PA. God used the faithful testimony of her life, along with the sound preaching from the Word of God to convict me of my sin and need for a Savior. Janell and I were married in October of 1999, and God began to involve our family in various aspects of ministry at Faith Baptist.
In 2002, the Lord challenged both Janell and I to commit ourselves to full-time vocational ministry. It was then that I started to attend the Altoona Bible Institute and Faith Baptist called me as an associate pastor with an emphasis on youth ministries. Janell was a pianist/organist and our family was highly involved in the music ministry of the church. We served at Faith until the Lord directed our family into missions ministry to Argentina in 2012. It was then in 2015 that the Lord directed us back into ministry in the U.S. and ultimately to the Woodcock Valley Bible Church.
It is our desire to serve the Lord here in the Raystown Lake area with the gifts, abilities, and experience that He has given us. Personally, I enjoy most the opportunities to minister through music, discipleship, counseling, and teaching. We pray that you would give us the opportunity to minister to you and your family.
